Mission: To provide life saving shelter and support to individuals and families in Adams County.

Cold Weather Care developed as an idea in 2009 when churches, non-profit organizations and public agencies came together to respond to the shortage of and basic human need for shelter, safety and food during the cold weather season in Adams County. From that idea a program was formed, modeled after the Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Cold Weather Care provides warm beds on cold nights in churches in Adams County to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. In partnership with as many as 12 local churches and the support of Community of Faith United, a network of host sites take turns opening their doors to up to 20 guests for 7 consecutive nights, 4-6 times, during the the cold weather season, October-March.

During their stay in the program, all guests work individually with a case manager to develop an action plan and move towards obtaining permanent housing and securing sustainable income. During the 2010-2011 winter season, 32.5% of all households served exited Cold Weather Care immediately into stable/permanent housing.

For information on how your church or faith community can partner with Cold Weather Care, please contact our Case Manager Elisabeth Henifin. Ph: 303-847-9072
