Cold Weather Care

Mission: To provide life saving shelter and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Adams County.

Cold Weather Care (CWC) was founded in 2009 when churches, nonprofit organizations and public agencies came together to respond to the shortage of emergency shelter during the cold weather season in Adams County. To address the needs of homeless families and individuals a program was formed where host churches provide temporary emergency shelter and nonprofit
partners and County agencies provide wrap-around supportive services.

A network of host sites take turns opening their doors to up to 20 guests during the cold weather season from October through March.  During their stay in the program guests work individually with a case manager to develop an action plan and move towards obtaining permanent housing and securing sustainable income.  CWC is successful; 40% of households served by Cold Weather Care during the 2011-2012 winter season are now in stable/permanent housing.

Covering Cold Weather Care

Cold Weather Care relies on donations, grants, corporate and in-kind support to provide shelter, food and case management.

Please donate.  Your contribution will make an immediate impact this winter:

$14   Sponsors a homeless individual for one night providing food and shelter

$44   Sponsors a homeless family for one night providing food and shelter

$100  Provides fuel to operate the CWC van for one week

Larger donations will help provide for the case manager's salary to connect homeless guests with resources for job training, employment, and stable housing.  Please give us a call to discuss sponsorship opportunities. 303.847.9072
